Instrument Rental
We have a fantastic rental scheme available to all local customers. It is a great way for a beginner to try a new instrument with the option to return it if they don't enjoy it. The basic priniciple is that you could take away a brand new instrument on the rental for 24 months. All you pay is the monthly fee and you are able to bring the instrument back any time after the first two months and hand it back in without anything else to pay. Or you can just keep on paying off the instrument until the 24 months is up and it's yours! For more info go here, or email us.

Instrument Repairs

We offer a variety of repair / setup services for all types of instruments. If you need a repair doing, it's always best to give us a ring first although more standard jobs, such as changing guitar strings, are less time consuming so just drop in.

Prices for all jobs are available on request. We won't do any work unless you know the price upfront and our costs are very reasonable.

Assisted Purchase Scheme

The Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme is strictly for pupils attending Local Education Authority Schools who receive musical tuition as part of the curriculum.

On the scheme, a student can to purchase an instrument from us without paying the VAT on it. This can lead to quite a good saving on the standard price of the instrument.

The scheme was approved by HM Customs and Excise and reviewed in September 1994 by the VAT Office. The scheme operates nationwide through Schools, Music Centres and Education Authorities.

Here's how the Scheme works:

  1. The Pupil/Parent selects an instrument.
  2. The Parent pays the VAT Free figure to the School
  3. The School places an official order.
  4. The school is invoiced with the full amount inclusive of VAT.
  5. The school claims the VAT back in the usual way.
  6. The pupil collects the instrument from the school.

Rules

There are conditions to abide by to be able to use this scheme

  • The pupil must be in full-time education at a Local Education Authority School.
  • Pupils must be either receiving tuition at the school as part of their curriculum or receiving private tuition in support of a curricular activity such as GCSE music
  • The instrument must be appropriate for the pupil's needs
  • The instrument must be portable
  • The instrument must initially be sent to the school and then passed to the pupil in a designated teaching room
  • The instrument must be charged to the pupils at or below the normal schools cost, exclusive of VAT (i.e. non-profit-making)

Instrument Finance

We understand that our customers have different needs when purchasing their instruments. As well as offering rental plans on many of our instruments, we are now happy to introduce a new finance option on any purchase over £200

Here's how it works in a nutshell:

Let's say you want a Fender Standard Strat priced at £339.99.

You pay a 10% deposit up front, plus the carriage charge (In this case £33.99 + £7.95). Then decide whether you want to spread the payments over 12, 18, 24, 36 or 48 months.

The interest charge is set at a fixed rate of 18.5% for the duration of the finance agreement.

So let's say you take it over 24 months. You'd pay £33.99 + £7.95 (carriage) up front. Then payments of £15.15 per week for 24 months.

The total amount repaid would be £397.50 (including your deposit).

The total charge for your finance would therefore be £57.51, which would work out at just £2.39 per month!

Simply email us with your name and phone number and the details of whatever you'd like to purchase and we'll sort it all out over the phone = no messing about!

Rehearsal Rooms and Recording

If you're in a band you need a place to practice! As musicians, we know what it's like to practice in dodgy rehearsal rooms that are normally no better than dark, damp garages with faulty electrics, no heating and bad equipment. On top of that are the high prices and rude owners which all help to put you right off ever jamming with your band ever again.

That is why we are delighted to tell you about My Big Bedroom Rehearsal (and recording) Rooms. Located in Blyth and run by Mr Mark Whiteman (who worked for us for a number of years and is our guitar and amp repairer), it offers clean, dry and well specced practice rooms. No more dodgy gear or silly prices! My Big Bedroom has two clean rooms that have decent vocal PA's, guitar and bass amps and a full drumkit. There are toilets and tea / coffee facilities as well as ample parking. The rates are also very good. A two hour practice with 2 guitar amps, bass, drums and PA will only set you back £20! If you need any more info get in touch with Mark below.
